Birding Tours 

We offer birding tours of Estonia which are based on a standard itinerary and can be customized to suit your specific wishes.

Our standard tours are highly personalized because we take only small groups (4-6 participants). They last 5 days and 4 nights over a weekend and take in various parts of the beautiful Estonian countryside where we expect to have a good birding experience. Each tour is accompanied by experienced local guides.

Each night you will stay in accommodation which has been carefully selected by us for you to enjoy authentic Estonian culture. We take care of the gastronomic part of the trip by introducing you to the best of Estonian cuisine.

You will make your own arrangements to arrive in Tallinn on Thursday, returning home on Monday. We areable to give you travel advice. Our tour covers all accommodation, meals, travel, and guide expenses from the time you arrive in Tallinn until your departure home.

We also offer one day tours from Tallinn with overnight in Haapsalu, transport and meals included.

 5-Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1
After arrival in Tallinn, we may have time for some birding around Tallinn and a quick tour of the medieval center of this beautiful Hanseatic city. We will stay overnight in the city after dining at a high quality restaurant within the old town.

Day 2-3
On our second day, we will start the day early to drive approximately 70 miles to the north-west of Estonia. We will spend two days and one night in this region exploring its variety of habitats for the splendid abundance of birds.

North of Haapsalu Bay, we will visit the Naorootsi region and the Põõsaspea peninsular. We will explore the coastal areas as well as inland marshes and forests. As well as seabirds, we will add game birds, waterfowl, owls, woodpeckers and many passerines to our lists.

South of Haapsalu is one of the most important wetland areas in Northern Europe, the Matsalu Nature Reserve which is a Ramsar wetland site. Here we will have the opportunity to watch thousands of wildfowl, waders, as well as cranes and raptors.

On the third day we will spend the morning exploring Matsalu Bay before heading south for about 60 miles to Häädemeeste where we will stay overnight. We will have the opportunity for some birding on the way as well as in the evening after our arrival.

Day 4
Our fourth day will be spent exploring a variety of habitats including the coastal areas and forests near Kabli bird station then to Nigula bog and surrounding forests.

In addition to seabirds, we expect to see black stork, capercaillie, owls, woodpeckers, raptors as well as cranes, and many passerines.

We will drive back to Tallinn in the evening where a delicious meal and a comfortable hotel will be waiting for us.

Day 5
There may be time to visit some of the sights of old Tallinn city before your transfer to Tallinn airport.

 5-Day Tour Details

Duration: 5 days, including day of arrival and day of departure.

Availability: Each weekend from March to October.

Group size: Four to Six

Tour price: €650, single room supplement €80. Deposit €80.

Pace: Breakfast at 07:00. No long walks, all on the flat, some tower hides to climb up.

What's included: Four nights accommodation, pickup/return from/to Tallinn airport, all meals, local transport by minibus, services of guides and reserve entrance fees.

What is not included: Transport to/from Tallinn, travel insurance, drinks and any personal items.

 1-Day Tour

We will take you from Tallinn to Haapsalu leaving Tallinn at about 4 p.m. Once we have arrived in Haapsalu and checked in to the hotel there will be some time for birding before dinner.

The next day we will visit some of the best birding locations north of Haapsalu and then, time permitting, will visit some sites around Matsalu Bay.

After about five hours of birding we will return to Tallinn.
